Microsoft at E3 2010
New Box
As you may all know, Microsoft is coming out with a re-designed Xbox360 tomorrow. The new box is a bit smaller (not really slimmer despite its name), quieter, and shinier, it also comes with a much bigger hard-drive (250GB) and wifi-n. No Blu-Ray this time around or Bluetooth.
I loved the design when I saw footage of the conference, and then I saw it in person... I was slightly underwhelmed. The creases are far less dramatic in non-studio lighting, and the vent on the side and top scream Alienware to me. But the upgrades for the same price, are nothing but good news to those looking to buy a new Xbox360.

Nintendo 3DS @ E3 2010
Attempting to get into the Nintendo area yesterday was a bad idea. The place was packed after the huge announcement of the 3DS during their conference earlier in the day. Today was a different story, there was plenty of traffic, but the madness was over.
It also seems like Nintendo re-inforced their crew, as there were so many booth staffers that they actually formed a human barrier for people to get from the line to the 3DS demo area. Sadly, photography was not allowed inside the demo area (not that it would matter since you have to see the 3D in person anyway).

Marvel vs Capcom 3 Gameplay
The most popular game on the show floor (outside of the Nintendo booth) is without a doubt Marvel vs Capcom 3. I had a chance to go a few rounds and I loved every second. Sure, part of it is nostalgia, remembering the countless hours (and coins) spent at the arcade playing X-men vs streefighter, and later on the original Marvel vs Capcom.
This is an update of the second game, which I never spent quality time on. It's basically Street Fighter 4 graphics, with old-school MvC gameplay. There were no big surprise playable characters, basically every player on the poster was playable including Iron Man, Captain America, Spiderman, Morrigan, Ryu, Dante, Chris, and a few outhers. The only surprise was the slightly extended trailer. It actually reveals the villain. I won't spoil it, but it's an interesting choice, for sure.

Homefront
So far, I have to say on the show floor, THQ's Homefront really stole the show with the incredible marketing.
I arrived at the LACC at around noon, and as expected, parking was an absolute NIGHTMARE. The line to get into the convention center parking was very long because it is relatively cheap ($12) compared to the nearby extort... I mean parking lots which were charging anywhere from $20 to $35 dollars for parking. I one peculiar parking lot across the street from the Staples center (right next to the LACC)... This one was run by North Korean soldiers in full body armor, North Korean flags were all around the lot, and camo was on the fence. It also said "slow down check point ahead." Then I noticed the GIANT Homefront banner on the LACC, so I made the connection....

kinect
it really seems like microsoft is putting all their eggs in the kinect basket. Their booth is pretty bare outside of the main room in the center which is dedicated to kinect. Video coming later.
